Sukkah Explainer Poster Text:

B”H

WHY IS THIS HERE?

Dear neighbors,

The hut you see here is a self-standing, TEMPORARY STRUCTURE built in observance of the Jewish Holiday of Sukkot.

The sukkah commemorates the Clouds of Glory which surrounded and protected our Jewish ancestors during the forty-year desert sojourn which followed the Egyptian Exodus. Our willingness to leave the security of our homes and spend eight days in an outdoor hut demonstrates our faith in G-d and His benevolence.

The Holiday of Sukkot ends on [DATE]. This structure will be deconstructed immediately thereafter.

We invite you to enjoy some baked goods in our Sukkah on [DATE] (between TIME and TIME).

If you have any questions/comments, please give us a call: PHONE NUMBER .

Thank you for your understanding,

The LAST NAME family

About the Sukkah Poster Text:

 Sukkot

The Jewish festival of Joy

“On the 15th day of the 7th month, when you gather in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate G-d’s festival for a seven-day period… You shall dwell in booths, so that your generations will know that I caused the Children of Israel to dwell in booths when I took them from the Land of Egypt.”

Leviticus, 23:39

A few short days after the High Holidays, Jews traditionally celebrate the holiday of Sukkot (booths). It is both a harvest festival and a commemoration of the miraculous Divine protection during the Exodus from Egypt. For seven days, food is eaten only in the Sukkah (a temporary booth, with natural produce as its roof).

During these days, Jews also recite a blessing over the “Four Kinds” – the Lulav, Etrog, Hadas, and Aravah, symbolizing unity and blessings.

Feel free to come inside and find out more.
