Press Release in Newspapers
So there are two general ways you can go about getting in a local paper for publicity purposes.
1) A media advisory: usually on the shorter side (2-300 words) letting the paper know that interviews and photo ops will be available at a specific date and time. This works best when you can tie it to an event and describe the photo op.
2) A press release: This is on the longer side (600 words or more) as it should include all the details they would need for the story--even if they don't come and interview you--including quotes etc. This can be sent in advance of the event or after the event.
Regardless of how you want to go about this, Chabad.org would be glad to help with the writing and/or media outreach; we have a number of packages as well as discounts for new shluchim.
