Mikvah Building Checklist


It's important to note that each Mikvah expert and contractor may have their unique approach and specific steps in the construction process. 

Therefore, this checklist represents a general construction guideline encompassing various essential steps, some of which might not be applicable to every Mikvah. 

Updates and revisions to this guide will be made as more information is gathered and confirmed.


Research and building team

  • Rov

  • Mikvah Expert

Building the bor 

  • Cradle

  • Built the frames 

  • Put in rebar in everything before the poor

  • The wire (grounding) is attached to the rebar

  • Put in the Pipe Wall Sleeves (wires for heating, filter and LED lights etc)

  • Poured the mikvah

  • Waterproof test

  • Added the floor for the top bor

  • Poured the steps

  •  Attached the railing

  • Attached the wires to all the places ( Railing, Heating, )

  • Tiled the bor

  • Added the heating element

  • Thermostat sensor (aquastat)

  • Filter 

  • The Rov Checked it over


Getting the Rainwater

  • The Rov approved the roof design and material 

  • Attached the gutter

  • Pipes from the roof

  • Otzar

  • (Catch Box to direct the water)

  • Hamshachas

  • Cover for the Hashachas



Mikvah Room

  • Lighting

  • Exhaust fan

  • Faucet to add water to the mikvah  

  • Drain

  • Tiled

  • Hooks ( to place robe & towel)

Maintenance room

  • Boiler

  • Water Heater

  • HVAC

  • Filter control box

  • Washer Dryer



Prep Room

  • Lighting

  • Exhaust fan

  • Tub

  • Shower

  • Sink

  • Vanity

  • Toilet

  • Towel Warmers

  • Hooks


Entrance/ Lobby

  • Sink

  • Intercom/ speaker 



General Building Guide


1. Prepare Construction Site and Pour Foundation
  • Builder applies for and acquires permits.

  • Construction crew levels site.

  • Builder puts up wooden forms for the temporary foundation.

  • Footings are installed.

  • Waterproofing and plumbing are installed.

  • Inspection #1

2. Complete Rough Framing
  • Floor system, walls and roof system are completed.

  • Sheathing is applied to exterior walls and covered with protective wrap.


3. Complete Rough Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC
  • Pipes and wires

  • Sewer lines and vents

  • Water supply lines

  • Bathtubs and shower units

  • Ductwork for HVAC system

  • HVAC vent pipes

  • Electrical wiring and receptacles

  • Inspections #2, #3, and #4


4. Install Insulation

5. Complete Drywall and Interior Fixtures; Start Exterior Finishes
  • Drywall is hung and taped.

  • The primer coat of paint is applied.

  • Exterior finishes are installed.


6. Finish Interior Trim; Install Exterior Walkways and Driveway
  • Doors, windowsills and decorative trim are installed.

  • Cabinets, and vanities are installed.

  • The final coat of paint is applied.

7. Install Hard Surface Flooring and Countertops; Complete Exterior Grading
  • Ceramic tile, vinyl and wood flooring are installed.

  • The exterior finish grading is completed to ensure proper drainage away from the home and to prepare the yard for landscaping.


8. Finish Mechanical Trims; Install Bathroom Fixtures
  • Light fixtures, outlets and switches are installed, and the electrical panel is completed.

  • HVAC equipment is installed and registers completed.

  • Sinks, toilets and faucets are put in place.

9. Install Mirrors and Shower Doors; Finish Flooring and Exterior Landscaping
  • Mirrors, shower doors and carpeting are installed and final cleanup takes place.

10. Conduct Final Walk-Through
